What exactly is the free Obama phone? The free Obama phone is a program that is meant to help the financially unstable who cannot afford access to a cell phone. The US House of Representatives has passed a resolution on Iran that moves the United States much closer to a war footing against Iran as many experts and diplomats warn America is ready for attack.

The vote undermines the 5+1 Iranian nuclear talks scheduled for next week, in which the US will participate and which many in the pro-war camp want to sabotage.

Ahead of the vote Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), a tough critic of the resolution and one of the

few who voted against it, warned that the US is “getting ready for war against Iran” with Thursday’s vote.

The non-binding

resolution H.Res.568 that overwhelmingly passed 401-11, effectively calls for a military attack on Iran when it obtains “nuclear weapons capability.” The vague interpretation, critics say, already applies to Iran, not to mention Brazil, Japan, the Netherlands, and actually any other country with a civilian nuclear program.

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff for Secretary of State Colin Powell, warned “This resolution reads like the same sheet of music that got us into the Iraq war, and could be the precursor for a war with Iran. It’s effectively a thinly-disguised effort to bless war.”

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is still drawing flak for having the temerity to appear in his trademark hoodie at a pivotal bank-sponsored meeting with potential investors in New York this week. The meeting kicked off the company’s planned nine-day “roadshow” to sell shares to the public for the first time.

The landmark IPO is expected to value the social networking

giant at nearly $100 billion, and some analysts and pundits thought the occasion merited a suit and tie. “He’s actually showing investors he doesn’t care that much; he’s going to be him,” Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachtertold Bloomberg TV. “I think that’s a mark of immaturity. I think that he has to realize he’s bringing investors in as a new constituency right now, and I think he’s got to show them the respect that they deserve because he’s asking them for their money.”

Zuckerberg has been known to dress up on occasion, but the hoodie has become his trademark and is considered normal business atirtire in California’s Silicon Valley, where Facebook is based. In Facebook’s public roadshow” video touting the company’s prospects, Zuckerberg appears in a T shirt.

A second painting has been torched by an Italian museum director to highlight a critical lack of funds in these economically lean times. But while some fret over burning art, could the entire eurozone go up in smoke?

ned a painting by Neapolitan artist Rosaria Matarese on Wednesday night outside the Casoria Contemporary Art Museum situated in a small town near Naples.

As the artist stood beside Manfredi to watch her work turn to ash, she described the process as “painful,” but also necessary “ to save this museum.” Matarese’s creation was valued at around $8,000 and $9,000.

On the previous day, French artist Severine Bourguignon also gave Manfredi the green light as she watched online her $13,050 painting going up in flames.

Ron Paul, by his own admission, has been heavily influenced by the late Ayn Rand. But, as we shall see, he appropriated her worst idea, the Gold Standard. But first, let’s take another peak at Miss Rand.

To get at her essence, we have to see the origins of her famous nom de plume Ayn Rand. She was born Alissa Rosenbaum in 1905. She adopted her new name when she arrived in the USA in the 1920s. Biographers, including two recent ones, have been consistently wrong as to where the ‘ayn’ and the ‘rand’ come from. ‘Ayn’ was not appropriated from a Finnish writer nor did ‘Rand’ come from the Remington Rand typewriter. Rather, Jeff Walker makes a convincing case in his 1999 book, THE AYN RAND CULT, that ‘Ayn’ was a common Jewish term of affection while ‘Rand’ was from the a

ssociation with South Africa gold which was mined by the Oppenheimers and the like.

Furthermore, Walker writes this:

“The word ‘gold’ and the imagery of gold saturate ATLAS SHRUGGED, and the gold standard plays a prominent role in her ideology. Even ‘Galt’ is ‘gold,’ pronounced with a Yiddish inflection.”

Rand also heavily promoted the Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises, whose one trick pony was the Gold Standard. Von Mises, of course, was sponsored by the Rothschilds and the Warburgs. These folks aren’t in the game for love.

Ron Paul, in turn, inherited this von Mises obsession. In fact, Ron Paul’s REAL campaign amounts to one long gold commercial, all the rest being crap. And you thought the drug-addled Glenn Beck was the only one whoring for gold?

To start with, the Gold Standard would be an impossibility. There is simply not enough gold in the entire world to monetize it in such a way as to meet the needs of the modern economy. Moreover, private bankers, who we need not name, have cornered the greater chunk of the gold available in the world.

Gaming with gold is a loaded proposition.

WASHINGTON — As President Obama mounts an aggressive campaign on what he calls tax fairness, his own tax burden has fallen to the lowest of his time in the White House, lower than many who make far less — including his secretary.
The president and first lady reported a joint adjusted gross income of $789,674 last year and paid $162,074 in federal taxes, or about 20.5%, according to the tax return released Friday by the White House. That income keeps the Obamas in the top 1% of taxpayers.

The Obamas’ overall tax rate is slightly lower than the average for people in the top tier — largely because he made significant donations to charity. Data compiled by the Tax Policy Center show the average income tax rate for those making more than $532,000 is 24%.
