Sept. 11th 2012-The Hive Daily

“As the cleansing ocean closes over bin Laden’s carcass, may the earth lie lightly on the countless graves of those he sentenced without compunction to be burned alive or dismembered in the street.”
― Christopher Hitchens, The Enemy

For 11 years we have lived and relieved the horror of 9/11. We will never forget the loss, shock and tragedy. I know people who lost friends and family. I almost lost my father. We lost 3,000 fellow citizens. We lost a measure of hope and childhood on that day. It turned us into a nation that rightly wanted revenge at all costs. And that is what we got. Since then thousands of brave men and women have been lost in death, hundreds of thousands of civilians, millions wounded, and our rights and freedoms are almost gone. It’s going to get worse.

Iraqi has had the troop numbers cut to be replaced with contractors. Change is illusion. America’s longest war in Afganistan still moves with rhetorical end in sight. After more than a decade you have to ask: Why? I know ‘why.” But after this long ‘why’ has changed. We all know that. We know something is wrong, but no one wants to land a finger on ‘what’ that is for fear of having it lopped off for daring to ask.

I honesty believe that the starting of this blog was a extension of 9/11 rage. Looking for sense, blame and a reason to explain the loss of life, the wanton violence and death on all sides that has mounted to the heavens with such a stink that I cannot stomach it anymore. To try and explain the fracture of the American Dream as I understood it. Attempting to look for and call out the perceived ‘next threat.’

I, like always, have fulfilled the urge to DO SOMETHING in response to my environment. Even as a young child I would act in response. I do not wait. I do not just take it. Even

levitra price

if it just makes me feel better, a pure moment of useless rebellion- I act. That can be and has been a mistake at times.

After 2 years of blog posting I realize that distributing valuable, honest information in the age of non stop information is hard. It is more than posting a link. There is so much disinformation and outright crap that even a person with the best of intensions can become a cell in the body of lies without realizing it. I suspected, and know I now.

I cannot follow up on everything or research it with the depth needed to bring you the full well rounded context and truth of a event. I found myself like Drudge and Huffington Post etc. having to find the most sensational headlines just to make you click. CHEAP. SAD. DEPRESSING. Its a race to the bottom that I cannot in good conscience run in. For this reason I now post with great hesitancy. Going forward I post carefully on this site …if ever again.

Don’t get me wrong: We did some really great things here. We broken a few stories that got picked up by big news outlets. Great contributions and tips from wonderful and interesting people. We had fun. We created moments that were exciting. I thank you all. But if I can’t do it right I will not do it badly. So things will evolved or die. There might be a second act, who knows? But it would have to be different. New rules.

This is a late night dispatch. I am tired- so forgive the possible mistypes and just take the message home. 9/11 was the begining of a string of staggering events over the last 11 years has shown us that life is fragile. No one is invincible. Things are not always what they appear. Time is fleeing for everyone. So in the shadow of all of that we must all be part of the quest for reality and truth in a world of myth and lies. In the words of Jimi Hendrix: “So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late..”

Times that will try our logic, principles, and souls lie ahead. Not succumb to the cheap tricks of politicians on either side of the isle. Do not relax to the familiar state of fear that leads us to misjudgment, overreaction, and a end fate that is worse than what we first waged the battle against. To navigate through these times with wisdom and thoughtful care takes hard work and energy. Make sure that you are tired in that effort.

Never forget who you are and what you stand for. Never forget.

A sense of desperation and disillusionment has migrated south and settled among the downtrodden in the wake of North Africa’s ‘Arab Spring’, and it comes as no surprise.

It’s been fast as a swift seeking better climes, and examples of institutionalized mass murder perpetrated daily elsewhere in the world such as in Syria has instilled a sad cynicism that robs an otherwise compassionate observer of any real or lasting outrage. It’s now all par for the course.

Just a few months ago South Africans witnessed the slaying of Andries Tatane by police. Here it dealt with a single victim and drew media attention from across the globe. This time though 34 hapless miners set out three weeks ago to claim a greater slice of the platinum cake, but instead ended up dead at the hands of incompetent police.

It is just the beginning of more violent labour unrest ahead in South Africa and has provided manna from heaven for those with a personal political agenda keen to fan the flames of discontent among the disenfranchised. It is the stuff anarchy is made of, and activist threats of making the country ungovernable are gaining momentum with each atrocity committed by ill prepared police displaying a dismal level of training under poor leadership.

In this instance the police faced a hoard of angry workers imbued with a deeply ingrained cultural and social makeup. These played a massive role in their preparation for confrontation, none of which seem to have been taken into account by the authorities empowered to keep the peace in such circumstances.

Almost every miner had a traditional weapon clutched in his hand for the looming confrontation, and anyone with a simple understanding of conflict resolution among those nurtured in tribal South Africa will know that a sturdy stick or knobkerrie is often an extension of any black miners arm. This practice dates back hundreds of years, and has become an important and abiding cultural reality entirely forgotten or conveniently ignored by police in their planning to do deal with the sad confrontation at Marikana platinum mine.

It does not take a commission of enquiry to reach conclusions in this affair. The entire exercise was a catastrophic debacle and a perfect example of abysmal police preparation plus absurd leadership down the entire command chain.

In the nineteenth century special training was needed to deal with tribal faction fighting in remote parts of South Africa, and magistrates sat in special courts where consideration of circumstances surrounding this form of conflict resolution swayed all decision and judgement during proceedings.

To what extent this practice remains in force today is anyone’s guess, but judging by the clear lack of insight regarding the critical cultural factors inherent in any cross section of our black mining community the police leadership structure was completely out of touch in handling the Marikana crisis.

One must presume that president Jacob Zuma was deeply disturbed by what he witnessed at Marikana in the wake of the shootings, as he too walked the rugged valleys of remote Kwa-Zulu Natal as a young man clutching a traditional weapon, without which any Zulu preparing for adulthood was deemed naked. So it was with the Marikana miners who instinctively reached for their sticks when disillusionment set in regarding reliance on all forms of union negotiation that had either stalled or become futile.

So, without waiting for another decision from the endless stream of commissions empowered to study circumstances in the unfolding saga that is South Africa today, lets just agree that administration of the country is coming apart at the seams while every established guideline continues to be cast aside as it certainly was in this instance.

Consider also the nucleus of this particular dispute. Imagine you are a machinist drilling into the rock face deep underground on a daily basis at Marikana platinum mine, all the while relying on someone at union level to protect your interests when it comes to salary and benefits.

The allegation is that the national union of mineworkers (NUMSA) has become a toothless organization more concerned about personal issues at management level than the welfare of the miners it represents. A new union is now being formed and gaining momentum, but it too could become just another self serving group as alleged in this instance and will we see another Marikana type massacre before anything substantive is done to address the legitimate concerns of those working underground in the difficult and dangerous mining sector.

Will the road ahead be strewn with more Marikana’s, or is it a case of one swallow not making a summer. And, ultimately, is South Africa’s lasting winter of discontent just around the corner?.

Whatever the case, family members of the 34 slain miners are out in the cold and many children now go fatherless into the future.

That is a stark reality every policeman should consider carefully when next fingers are poised on a trigger.

A wise South African police instructor once told his class that when decision time arrived to use a weapon in the line of duty, first stick it where the monkeys stick their nuts before deciding to pull the trigger. Good thinking that, but what if it’s a monkey holding the gun?.

South Africa’s recently ousted police commissioner, Bheki (shoot to kill) Cele became an instant pariah with his ill-conceived utterance in the Annie Dewani murder case. He asked “Does he (the suspect) think we’re a bunch of monkeys”, or words to that effect. That remark sure takes on new meaning with the Marikana massacre, and should resound loudly in the ears of many.

From a purely political perspective events at Marikana have meant the rapid decline of Jacob Zuma as an effective president of South Africa, if ever he was. The buck stops at his doorstep in this instance and the death of 34 miners at Marikana platinum mine should indeed be the main reason for the nation to deny him any further part in governance of the country, plus certainly no chance of re-election for a second term of office at the helm.

As a parting thought, the relevance of fallen past president of the ANC youth league Julius Malema is now being seen in a completely new light by many in South Africa. He has been handed a massive vote of confidence in support of his calls for nationalization of the mines. Even at this early stage of his career he could quite easily seize political control of the country rather than simply continue as a king maker in support of any other alternative for Zuma’s position at the helm.

With Malema, at least you know exactly what you’re getting but whether his hands are clean enough to govern remains to be seen.

Do not be surprised now should ANC heavyweights fast track every effort to find enough dirt with which to proceed against Malema through judicial processes. Are the puppet masters frantically pulling every string as we speak?

Humanity’s curiosity about Mars has led to an exciting event: the dramatic landing of an SUV-sized rover, set for 1:31 a.m. ET Monday.

NASA’s $2.6 billion rover, Curiosity, will make its dramatic entrance into Martian territory in a spectacle popularly known as the “seven minutes of terror.” This jaw-dropping landing process, involving a sky crane and the world’s largest supersonic parachute, allows the spacecraft carrying Curiosity to target the landing area that scientists have meticulously chosen.

The spacecraft is “healthy and right on course,” according to the latest update from NASA. Curiosity has been traveling away from Earth since November 26.

The vehicle, which will be controlled from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has a full suite of sophisticated tools for exploring Mars. They include 17 cameras, a laser that can survey the composition of rocks from a distance and instruments that can analyze samples from soil or rocks.

The Department of Homeland Security has ordered masses of riot gear equipment to prepare for potential significant domestic riots at the Republican National Convention, Democratic National Convention and next year’s presidential inauguration.

The DHS submitted a rushed solicitation to the Federal Business Opportunities site on Wednesday, which is a portal for Federal government procurement requisitions over $25,000. The request gave the potential suppliers only one day to submit their proposals and a 15-day delivery requirement to Alexandria, Virginia.

As the brief explains, “the objective of this effort is to procure riot gear to prepare for the 2012 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the 2013 Presidential Inauguration and other future similar activities.”

The total amount ordered is about 150 sets of riot helmets, thigh and groin protectors, hard-shell shin guards and other riot gear.

Specifically, DHS is looking to obtain:

- “147 riot helmets” with “adjustable tactical face shield with liquid seal”

- “147 sets of upper body and shoulder protection”

- “152 sets of thigh and groin protection”

- “147 hard-shell shin guards” with “substantial protection from flying debris, non-ballistic weapons, and blows to the leg” and “optimized protective design for severe riot control or tactical situations.”

- “156 forearm protectors”

- “147 pairs of tactical gloves”

The riot gear will be worn by Federal Protective Service agents who are tasked with protecting property, grounds and buildings owned by the federal government.

“I don’t think the Bush administration would want to see these released,”

Salon-

Over 120 CIA documents concerning 9/11, Osama bin Laden and counterterrorism were published today for the first time, having been newly declassified and released to the National Security Archive. The documents were released after the NSA pored through the footnotes of the 9/11 Commission and sent Freedom of Information Act requests.

The material contains much new information about the hunt before and after 9/11 for bin Laden, the development of the drone campaign in AfPak, and al-Qaida’s relationship with America’s ally, Pakistan. Perhaps most damning are the documents showing that the CIA had bin Laden in its cross hairs a full year before 9/11 — but didn’t get the funding from the Bush administration White House to take him out or even continue monitoring him. The CIA materials directly contradict the many claims of Bush officials that it was aggressively pursuing al-Qaida prior to 9/11, and that nobody could have predicted the attacks. “I don’t think the Bush administration would want to see these released, because they paint a picture of the CIA knowing something would happen before 9/11, but they didn’t get the institutional support they needed,” says Barbara Elias-Sanborn, the NSA fellow who edited the materials.

Let’s start there. In 2000 and 2001, the CIA began using Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Afghanistan. “The idea of using UAVs originated in April 2000 as a result of a request from the NSC’s Coordinator for Counterterrorism to the CIA and the Department of Defense to come up with new ideas to go after the terrorists in Afghanistan,” a 2004 document summarizes. The Pentagon approved

best way to lose weight

the plan for surveillance purposes.

And yet, simultaneously, the CIA declared that budget concerns were forcing it to move its Counterterrorism Center/Osama bin Laden Unit from an “offensive” to a “defensive” posture. For the CIA, that meant trying to get Afghan tribal leaders and the Northern Alliance to kill or capture bin Laden, Elias-Sanborn says. “It was forced to be less of a kinetic operation,” she says. “It had to be only for surveillance, which was not what they considered an offensive posture.”

“Budget concerns … CT [counterterrorism] supplemental still at NSC-OMB [National Security Council – Office of Management and Budget] level,” an April 2000 document reads. “Need forward movement on supplemental soonest due to expected early recess due to conventions, campaigning and elections.” In addition, the Air Force told the CIA that if it lost a drone, the CIA would have to pay for it, which made the agency more reluctant to use the technology.

Still, the drone program began in September 2000. One drone swiftly twice observed an individual “most likely to have been Bin Laden.” But since the CIA only had

comprar viagra valencia

permission to use the drones for intelligence gathering, it had no way to act on its findings. The agency submitted a proposal to the National Security Council staff in December 2000 that would have significantly expanded the program. “It was too late for the departing Clinton Administration to take action on this strategic request,” however. It wasn’t too late for the Bush administration, though. It just never did.

Former National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice has taken credit for the drone program that the Bush administration ignored. “Things like working to get an armed Predator that actually turned out to be extraordinarily important, working to get a strategy that would allow us to get better cooperation from Pakistan and from the Central Asians,” she said in 2006. “We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al-Qaida.” Rice claimed that the Bush administration continued the Clinton administration’s counterterrorism policies, a claim the documents disprove. “If the administration wanted to get it done, I’m sure they could have gotten it done,” says Elias-Sanborn.

Many of the documents publicize for the first time what was first made clear in the 9/11 Commission: The White House received a truly remarkable amount of warnings that al-Qaida was trying to attack the United States. From June to September 2001, a full seven CIA Senior Intelligence Briefs detailed that attacks were imminent, an incredible amount of information from one intelligence agency. One from June called “Bin-Ladin and Associates Making Near-Term Threats” writes that “[redacted] expects Usama Bin Laden to launch multiple attacks over the coming days.” The famous August brief called “Bin Ladin Determined to Strike the US” is included. “Al-Qai’da members, including some US citizens, have resided in or travelled to the US for years, and the group apparently maintains a support structure here,” it says. During the entire month of August, President Bush was on vacation at his ranch in Texas — which tied with one of Richard Nixon’s as the longest vacation ever taken by a president. CIA Director George Tenet has said he didn’t speak to Bush once that month, describing the president as being “on leave.” Bush did not hold a Principals’ meeting on terrorism until September 4, 2001, having downgraded the meetings to a deputies’ meeting, which then-counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke has repeatedly said slowed down anti-Bin Laden efforts “enormously, by months.”

For all the information the documents reveal, one huge matter is conspicuously absent: torture. There are nearly 50 CIA documents relating to such matters as the interrogation of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the intelligence gleaned from him, and yet “none of them were declassified at all,” notes Elias-Sanborn. “Certainly, the CIA has a stake in revealing what they did,” and they clearly do not want to reveal their complicity in war crimes.

One last thing is worth mentioning from the documents published today: Anyone with any doubt that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is dangerous to the United States is contradicting U.S. intelligence. “Violence between Israelis and the Palestinians, moreover is making Sunni extremists more willing to participate in attacks against US or Israeli interests,” the CIA wrote in February 2001. It is not the only piece of information revealed by the new documents that will be deeply uncomfortable for the Bush administration and hawks across the country.

world’s food chain could be compromised. It also showed how efficient natural systems are at distributing radioactivity from the Fukushima-Daiichi plant that blew up last year.

Bluefin tuna spawn only off the coasts of Japan and the Phillippines, and some migrate to the waters off southern California and Baja. The tuna caught off southern California, according to the study published in theProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, contained elevated levels of cesium 134 — a radioactive isotope otherwise absent in the Pacific Ocean and linked with nuclear production. The fish also contained elevated levels of cesium 137, already

buy an essay paper

present in the eastern Pacific.

The findings were a surprise to the researchers. But they prompted no warnings that eating bluefin tuna would pose an increased cancer risk, because even the elevated radioactivity levels detected were well below thresholds considered safe. Meanwhile, the fish tested were never intended for sale to food markets, so it seems as safe to order tuna sushi in Portland now as it was two or four years ago. READ MORE

Disclaimer: The following is a series of fictional accounts of theoretical situations. However, the information contained within was taken from established scientific journals on covered technology and military studies of real life combat scenarios. Alt-Market does not condone the use of any of the tactics described within for “illegal” purposes. Obviously, the totalitarian subject matter portrayed here is “pure fantasy”, and would never be encountered in the U.S. where politicians and corporate bankers are forthright, honest, and honorable, wishing only the sweetest sugar coated chili-dog best for all of mankind…

Imagine, if you will, a indian pharmacy online fantastic near future in which the United States is facing an unmitigated economic implosion. Not just a mere market crash, or a stint of high unemployment, but a full spectrum collapse driven by unsustainable debt spending and hyperinflationary printing. The American people witness multiple credit downgrades of U.S. Treasury mechanisms, the dollar loses its reserve status, devaluation of the currency runs rampant, and the prices of commodities and imported goods immediately skyrocket.

In the background of this disaster, a group of financial elite with dreams of a new centralized economic and political system use the chaos to encourage a removal of long held civil liberties; displacing Constitutional protections they deem “outdated” and no longer “practical” in the midst of our modern day troubles. This group then institutes draconian policies through the executive orders of a puppet president, including indefinite detention, assassination, and even martial law against citizens. For now, let’s just refer to them as “The Swedes”….

The Swedes have an extraordinary array of technological tools at their disposal. The kind of equipment dictators like Stalin and Hitler would have killed for…literally. This technology is so pervasive and so unprecedented in the history of tyrannical governments that average people shiver at the very thought of resistance. The Swedes seem to be invincible.

Some Americans think about escaping to a foreign country before the zealots totally dominate, but ultimately, running is meaningless. The Swedes want a global control grid, not just an American one. Eventually, the expatriates will have to face the music as well.

Others believe that they can take their families and hide alone in far off mountains to wait out the storm, but they do not consider what will happen to their country and its principles while they curl up in a ball and pray that the catastrophe does not touch them. They forget that survival is hollow if one finds himself and his culture enslaved in the meantime. READ MORE HERE
